About Milkweed Microterry Covers

Milkweed is a bold color, but somehow it is totally fitting for a happy, vibrant, comfortable living room. It is the kind of green that goes so well with neutral tones and brown tones (and even grey tones) that is very easy to decorate around, despite its strong coloring. It is a kind of celery powder color—almost like a lime color that has been muted with hints of yellow and tan. Milkweed Microterry is a "safe" risk worth taking.

Microterry has an incredible hand-feel and textured look. It looks very much like a thick, expensive cotton bath towel or terry robe, but it is actually a 100% combed polyester fabric that is stain resistant and machine washable. Inasmuch as it looks like terry, there are no loops in these strands—the terry look is achieved by woven rows of brushed poly strands, giving Microterry a bit of a corduroy look to it. It comes with all of the desirable texture of a corduroy, only it is has a much deeper nap and is softer than most.

Microterry will not ball or pill, as with some fabrics, and at 390 gsm (grams per square meter), it is weighty, lofty, and durable—even without bonding on the back. Lovesac has installed a "kiss-coat" on the back of the fabric, which is basically a glue backing to add a bit of stiffness and rigidity to the fabric, making it perfect for perky looking back pillows and thick, lofty Sac covers. Even with this underlying rigidity, the hand-feel of Microterry is undeniably unique. It is not a velvet, it has virtually no shine, instead a powdery luster; it is very soft and diffused looking under direct light—much like a brushed cotton, only with all of the benefits of a non-porous polyester thread.
