Just off the Dallas North Tollway, the Inwood Theatre is the Dallas area's premier home for independent film and foreign language cinema.
The original Inwood was designed to accommodate 1,100 movie watchers. There was enough room between aisles that
seated patrons did not have to stand to allow others in and out. Right down to the walls, the Inwood was extraordinary from the start. A special new acoustical plaster, produced and developed in California, was used on the auditorium walls.
Gigantic murals inspired fantasy, as guests waited in the quiet, softly-lit theatre for the picture to begin. Romance was
encouraged with great double-wide seats called divans at the ends of every other aisle. But, best of all, the Inwood was
air-conditioned and had a top-of-the-line RCA Sound System.
The newly refurbished Inwood has improved upon, while staying true to, the original. The murals have been touched up
and re-lit. The historical neon sign has been re-built. The upstairs auditoriums have been transformed into screening rooms,
replete with leather lounge chairs. The much-loved Inwood Lounge, Dallas’s best martini bar, has become a real part of the
theatre, allowing patrons to take their drinks with them into the auditoriums. And now, the main auditorium has been completely reconceived as a theatre unlike any you have seen before.
There is nothing quite like enjoying a movie while sipping a martini and relaxing with friends in one of the Inwood’s new
"Living Rooms" or cuddling with a loved one in a cozy “Movie Lounger.” Every seat in this theatre is an original invention by
LoveSac Alternative Furniture Co. Each piece is either a Durafoam-filled LoveSac™ or a variation of LoveSac’s™ new,
patented furniture system – Sactionals.™ All Sactionals™ configurations are built from just two pieces – a ”Base,” which
includes the seat and back cushions and the frame, and a “Side,” which is used for arms and backs. All Sactionals™ pieces
are covered with removable, machine washable covers . The Sacs have been arranged, and the Sactionals configured, to
create a variety of movie-watching experiences, so that theatre patrons can pick the one that’s right for them. |
